A year or so ago, Elizabeth bought me this cool old file box to keep papers in. We just moved, and I decided to finally store some things in it. I opened it up and found this letter, dated June 2, 1970.
Dear Mrs. Somborov,
I was very surprised to receive your letter informing me that I purchased window shades from Mrs. Herstein in October 1969.
As I explained to you in my first letter, I was never her store until November 24, 1969. I never purchased window shades from her in my life.
As for me waiting 5 months to notify you, that isn’t correct either. Your original letter was sent to me on December 11, 1969 and I returned it to you on December 19, 1969. Not having heard anything from you, and being under the impression that it was taking you a while to investigate, I didn’t call you.
All that I am asking for is my $13.47 that I paid Mrs. Herstine [sic] in good faith for crystal shades that did not fit.
I never knew that business people were allowed to keep your money and try to force you into buying something that you didn’t need or want or keep your money because of a time period running out. (My time period hasn’t run out regardless of what Mrs. Herstine [sic] has told you.)
I hope that you will get the truth from Mrs. Herstine [sic] about this this matter.
